Assignment 8: Pop Art

I believe that the strongest technical aspect of my work is the way I colored the picture of Albert Einstein, and the way I adjusted the four pictures to look symmetrical. These are the strongest technical aspects of my work, because the colors in the first picture go good together, green, blue, and  turquoise. Also; Making the four pictures of Albert Einstein symmetrical, makes the whole piece look better.

The easiest part in this art activity was flattening the image. All I had to do was go to the top of the screen, go to layer and click; flatten image. The difficult part of this art activity was getting the right canvas size, when I was adjusting the width, and length.

The objective of this art activity was to turn an ordinary portrait into a pop art inspired piece using the pen tool, clipping paths, and fill layers. I used the fill layers in the first Einstein picture to get the blue background, and I used the clipping paths to merge linked layers. If I could do this art activity again the only thing I would do differently would be to use a different picture, and use different colors.

Assignment 7: Hybrid animal

My Hybrid animal is a mix of a lizard (Chameleon), and a squirrel. The Strongest technical aspect of my work is the way I fit the head of the squirrel on the lizard. I believe it is the strongest aspect of my work, because I had to use the clone stamp tool to use the lizards green color. The technical aspect of my work that I can improve on is the way I placed the squirrel tail on the lizard body, I could have used the clone stamp or a blending tool to make the tail look like it was apart of the lizard.

The easiest part about this art activity was lowering the opacity on the squirrel head, and tail. It was easy because I only had to lower it to about 95 percent. It was also easy to use the masking tool on the squirrel so I could get rid of its body, and keep the head, and tail. The difficult part about this assignment was getting rid of the lizard's curly tail, I had to use the clone stamp to go over it, because if I used the masking, or erasing tool it would have left a large, noticeable empty space.

The objective of this art activity was to mix two animals together, and to us the masking tool, and stamp tool. I demonstrated the objective by using the body of a lizard, and the head, and tail of a squirrel. I used the masking, and stamp tool the make the squirrel body parts belonged on the lizard body.  If I could do this activity again I would give the lizard a pair of squirrel legs, and change the opacity of the squirrel head, tail, and legs.

Assignment 6 symmetrical shapes.

The strongest technical aspect of my work is the way I placed the shapes in a symmetrical pattern, and the way I changed the shapes opacity. I believe that I could improve on the way I changed the opacity for some shapes. I think that the color dark green doesn't go good with the other rectangles, but other than that I think the picture is perfect.

The easy part of this activity, was changing the opacity, making the shapes, and coloring in the shapes. I didn't find anything difficult in this art activity, besides deciding what colors to use, it wasn't hard it just took a while.

I demonstrated the objective, by making all the shapes symmetrical, changing the opacity, and making folders for the layer. If I could do the art activity again, the nay thing I would do differently is add more shapes.

Assignment 5: Polaroid collage

I believe that the strongest technical aspect of my work is the background, I think it goes great with the picture of Iron Man.  I don't think there is anything I can improve on besides the way I placed the polaroids. I could have rotated some in different directions.

The easiest thing for me was finding the picture of Iron man, the Iron man logo, and finding a good background. For me there was no difficult part of the activity, there was only the challenge of using the masking tool on the polaroids. It wasn't difficult, but it did take a long time to complete.

I demonstrated the objective, by labeling each layer, creating a background with three layers, and making the picture look like it pops out of the polaroids. If I could do this activity again I would add more polaroids.

Assignment 4: tattoo

I believe that the strongest technical aspect of my work is the way I changed the color, and opacity. The tattoo was originally black, but I changed it to gray so it could match the black and white picture of me, that is why its my strongest technical aspect. I don't think I could improve on anything else, I believe that I did a really good job following the directions on the check list.

I thought It was easy to find a good picture of a tattoo online. It didn't take me that long to find the cool dragon tattoo. However: it did take me a while to finish the the project as a whole, but I didn't think it was as difficult as previous projects.

The I was able to demonstrate the objective of this project by applying a black and white tattoo onto a picture of me and wrap it around my arm by employing the dodge and burn tool and displacement map. I thought that this project went perfectly, the only thing that I would change if I did it again, would be the way the tattoo wraps around my arm.

Assignment 3: Landscape collage

Assignment 3: Landscape

I believe that the strongest technical aspect of my work is the was I made the middle ground blend in with the background, and forground. I think this is my strongest aspect because it looks like it is supposed to go with the background. I think I could improve my work, by making the stem of the tree show more, because the tree looks like it is standing without a stem.

I thought that it was easy to use the masking tool on the foreground, because  it was in a straight line. the hard part was masking the tree, and the building, because they are shaped differently, and had small details that I needed to zoom in to see.

The objective of this activity, was to create a landscape collage, using a foreground, middle ground, and backround. I demonstrated the objective by using three pictures as my foreground, middle ground, and background. If i could do this project again, I would add more objects in the sky, and the ground.

Assignment 2: personal Identity

Declan Whitted

Assignment 2: personal identity.
I think that the strongest technical aspect of my work is the way I colored the pictures, and the original picture that I chose. I chose the soccer ball background, because it had all the colors I needed for the other pictures. I also think that I could improve on the way I formatted the pictures. I thought that the picture of the video game controller, and video camera were not well placed.

For me, the easiest part of the activity was getting the pictures, (or coloring pages) and coloring them. I also found it easy to move and flip the pictures. The only thing that was difficult for me in this art activity, was using the magic wand tool (or the quick selection tool) to get rid of the white coloring page backgrounds.

The objective of this art activity, was to use the colors from one picture (the soccer ball background) and color in the pictures that represent things I like. If I could do this activity again I would move the picture of Mario, the mushroom, and the video game controller. I think that the picture would look better if I could see more of the colored flames in the soccer ball picture.

Assignment 1: Text Design

Declan Whitted

Assignment 1:Text design

I believe that the strongest aspect in my work is the way I formatted, and arranged the letters. I gave each letter just enough space, so they wouldn't seem so squished together, and I made sure that the letters were balanced symmetrically. I think that I could improve the picture by adding some more w's, because there is a tiny bit of extra space in the picture, I could put some more letters in those spaces.

I thought that it was easy to format the letters, because all I had to do was go on edit, then transform, and either flip the letter horizontally, or vertically. The objective of this art activity was to create a picture, made up of letters that are symmetrical. The difficult part of the activity was trying to make the letters that were farther apart, symmetrical. Luckily I was able to do it perfectly, and the letters that are farther apart look exactly symmetrical.

I demonstrated the objective by balancing the amount of letters on each side, and making sure that the letters were symmetrical. If I could do this activity again I would make all the letters different shades of blue, instead of blue and purple. Blue and orange are contrasting colors, so the letters would go good with the background.
